Since 2010, every June 25 is celebrated the International Day of Seafarers, as established by the International Maritime Organization and the UN. With the creation of this day, the aim is to recognize the importance of the work carried out by seafarers every day. It also seeks to highlight the dedication and strength that this profession requires, a career with a special regime of life that constantly confronts those who develop it with the danger of the seas and keeps them away from their loved ones for long periods of time. In return, it offers them the possibility of sailing all the seas and knowing the wonders of our planet. The AMC committed to Cuban maritime development and inter-positioning.
The AMC committed to the Cuban maritime development and the international positioning of our nation, seeks to strengthen the training and maritime competence of all those men and women who with their vocation of service to the sea, make the maritime profession not only their way of working, but their way of life. That is why today a date dedicated to honoring you, we wish to pay you special recognition for the dedicated work that you have done throughout your life, as well as the contributions you have made around the world, for the benefit of international trade. We celebrate the day of those who promote the development of the country through their service, people who work 365 days a year in different fields of marine science. Different profiles that are intertwined in order to achieve the same objective: ¨the professionalism of seafarers¨.
We take this opportunity to encourage the youngest to venture out and develop a maritime career. This is an option that requires highly trained and qualified personnel, being a job that also offers the possibility of developing a rewarding work on land after stopping sailing. In this way we wish our seafarers many congratulations.
